Craig D. Lawrence, Jr. joined Adams and Reese in 2016 as a member of the firm's Transactions and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Team in the firm's Birmingham office. A skilled attorney, business analyst and legal/business advisor, Craig has a broad range of experience in the real estate, banking, financial services, and technology industries. He focuses his law practice on business and real estate transactions.

Craig's representative experience includes:

•Negotiation, documentation and closing of sales, acquisitions and related financing of commercial properties.
•Negotiation and documentation of lease transactions.
•Advising on choice of business organization, choice of jurisdiction, organizational documentation for emerging and high growth businesses.
•Negotiation and documentation of business asset purchases.
•Negotiation of franchise documents on behalf of franchisors and franchisees.

Craig is a former assistant vice president of a regional banking and financial solutions provider. In this role, he assisted with analysis and optimization of retail and small business banking clients as well as tracking and analyzing key performance metrics for the company. Craig is also a former research and writing associate for the Alabama Small Business Development Network, a statewide network helping enhance economic growth throughout Alabama through small business. Craig served as a judiciary committee law clerk to U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

Craig received his J.D. in 2012 from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, alongside an M.B.A. the same year from Samford University's Brock School of Business, where he received a merit scholarship. As a law student, he received the Scholar of Merit in Lawyering and Legal Reasoning, participated in mock trial and moot court competitions, and consistently appeared on the Dean's List. As an M.B.A. student, Craig was selected by faculty to assist a Birmingham start-up and participated in the Regions' Entrepreneurship Challenge and the MBA Alumni Group. He received his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy in 2008 from the University of Alabama, where he founded the University of Alabama Peer Mentors program and FirstConnection.

Craig is a member of the Alabama Bar and the Georgia Bar and is active in other law-related organizations. He has spoken on a variety of business law topics. He has been invited to speak at engagements at Samford University, Innovation Depot, and Lawson State Community College. Craig has also been featured in the Birmingham Business Journal discussing best practices for new and emerging businesses.

In his spare time, Craig enjoys spending time with his wife Maggie and their son Banks. Craig and Maggie co-lead a Church of the Highlands small group in Homewood and participate in outreach at Julia Tutwiler Prison.
