J. Bernard Brannan, III, a 2010 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law, joined RichardsonClement in November 2011. Before joining the firm, Bernie served as the law clerk for the Honorable J. Scott Vowell, Presiding Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama.
In law school, Bernie was a member of the American Association for Justice and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers competitive trial teams and was twice awarded the James Peach Taylor award for trial advocacy. In his third year, Bernie worked in both the Civil and Criminal Defense Clinics, where he represented students and underprivileged members of the community in legal disputes. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2010.
Bernie received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Mississippi in 2007. At Ole Miss, Bernie was a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Chi social fraternity, and Interfraternity Council.
Bernie is a member of the Birmingham and Alabama Bar Associations, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. In his spare time, Bernie enjoys coaching youth football and basketball and following Ole Miss sports and Chicago Blackhawks hockey.
