Biography

Kris has more than 15 years of general litigation experience but concentrates her practice in defending businesses and insurers in life, health, and disability insurance claims. While Kris devotes much of her practice to defending ERISA-governed suits for life and disability benefits, she also defends state law bad faith cases. Her work for insurers has included providing pre-suit coverage opinions in life insurance matters and defensive litigation where the insureds claim fraud in the marketing and sale of insurance products. Additionally, she is a member of the firm’s Appellate Department in the Litigation Practice Group and handles appeals in both state and federal courts. She is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Alabama.

Why did you become an attorney?

I wanted to play a role in the complex legal system on which we all rely to govern and protect us.

What is the best part of your job?

When our clients need a court to listen to their story, I get to be their storyteller.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my family, my friends and my dogs. . . but not necessarily in that order.
