Biography

Mr. Greenfield has been representing claimants in the practice of workers’ compensation and labor law in Boise, Idaho since 1974. He is a graduate of Seattle University and the University of Idaho College of Law. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for Idaho, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Greenfield is a member of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) and is an ITLA Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist. He has served as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Workers’ Compensation in Idaho (1983-2000) and the Idaho Industrial Commission’s Advisory Committee on Workers’ Compensation (2000-present).

Mr. Greenfield was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 after graduating from Seattle University with a history major and philosophy minor. He was one of the last groups of people in America to actually be drafted. After basic training at Ft. Lewis, WA he was sent to advanced training in artillery at Ft. Sill in Oklahoma. He was then sent to Vietnam in Fall of 1968.

Mr. Greenfield served 7 months with the 23rd Artillery Group between Saigon and the Cambodian border. He was then selected to serve as a combat reporter for II Field Force news magazine, an official U.S. Army publication. He traveled throughout South Vietnam in this capacity and wrote about a variety of war-related activities. He completed his 365-day tour of duty and returned home as an E5 with an Army Commendation Medal.

He was discharged from the Army shortly after that, then enrolled at the University of Idaho College of Law utilizing the GI bill for funding. He graduated in 1974, and soon joined the office of the Idaho Attorney General in Boise for two years. His first major case was an Idaho Supreme Court appeal, Bone v Andrus, 96 Idaho 291, 527 P.2d 783 (1974), a successful appellate endeavor. After that he entered private practice with an emphasis in workers’ compensation law.

Mr. Greenfield has held various positions in the Idaho Democratic Party. He served as State Chair of the Idaho Democratic Party (1976-77) and as Democratic National Committeeman for Idaho (1988-2000). He has attended seven Democratic national conventions and has served as Idaho state director for five candidates for President – Sen. Edward Kennedy (1980), Sen. Alan Cranston (1984), Gov. Michael Dukakis (1988), Sen. Bill Bradley (2000), and Sen. Hillary Clinton (2008).
