While at Suffolk Law, Attorney Penka clerked in the Massachusetts Superior Court for the Honorable Bruce R. Henry, a position that left him familiar with both criminal and civil proceedings in multiple counties across the Commonwealth. Additionally, Attorney Penka spent a summer employed at the law firm of Merrill & McGeary in Boston. There he honed his skills drafting civil litigation documents and developed his knowledge of the land recording and registering process employed by Massachusetts.
Academically, Attorney Penka excelled, and he was also honored in extracurricular activities. Attorney Penka was selected as a staff member for the Moot Court Honor Board after his first year of law school. Additionally, he was chosen to be the Chief Competition Director of the Honor Board in his third year. A highly visible position that had Attorney Penka interacting with Judges of all levels of the Massachusetts Judiciary, members of the Massachusetts bar, and various professors from Suffolk Law. In addition to his work on the Honor Board, Attorney Penka was also selected as a Fellow in the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. The Fellowship is a year long and consisted of Attorney Penka and a partner teaching constitutional law issues to high school students. The program is designed to enhance the students comprehension of their constitutional rights including search and seizure issues, the death penalty for juveniles, free speech in schools, and other present day legal issues involving topics such as bullying and sex trafficking.
Prior to attending law school Attorney Penka was a modern day renaissance man. He has been a teacher in a public high school and at a residential youth facility. Attorney Penka was a carpenter, a licensed EMT in the Commonwealth, and has coached basketball at the high school level. All of these experiences have contributed to Attorney Penka's ability to see the forest through the trees.
Attorney Penka attended Rollins College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Before that he grew up in Central Massachusetts where he attended Wachusett Regional High School.
