Biography

Executive Summary

Beth is counsel in our Calgary office. She provides strategic advice to the firm on the business of law, energy risk and compliance, and public policy issues. She also provides advice on corporate commercial matters and on governance issues to corporations (public and private), agencies, boards and tribunals.

Beth holds a unique breadth of experience at the board and executive levels spanning business, legal, government and the broader community. She brings 14 years of board experience, including serving in the roles of board chair, vice chair, and chair of various subcommittees. The focus of Beth's board work includes governance, strategy development and implementation, public policy and regulatory, and risk management.

In her professional roles, Beth has specialized in energy, regulatory, governance and compliance, retail, and telecommunications. She has been an active contributor in organizations and corporations undergoing transformational change through innovation, growth or transitions.

Prior to joining BLG, Beth spent the majority of her career with TELUS, a publicly held regulated corporation where she served in management and legal positions and acquired retail, telecommunication and regulatory experience.

Beth has received a number of notable recognitions as a result of her leadership, perspective and contributions. She was recently spotlighted by Canadian Diversity Network's symposium among leading female business leaders. In 2016, Beth was appointed as Executive Committee Member for the Institute of Corporate Directors Calgary Chapter. In 2013, Beth was identified as 1 of 3 business leaders in Canada to join Sheryl Sandberg (COO, Facebook) in launching her global Lean In initiative.?
