Jody focuses on collaborating with her clients to come up with creative, proactive solutions, catered to their specific needs. Her experience representing both employees and employers in employment and human rights matters provides her with an understanding of the different perspectives, typical problems, and arguments of parties facing termination, employment contract disputes and wrongful dismissal claims, as well as human rights complaints. In addition to representing her clients, Jody regularly provides strategic advice to employers on best practices for accommodation, return to work, drafting of employment contracts and workplace policies, and workplace investigations.

Jody also has a strong insurance defence practice and works with a number of national insurers on a wide variety of insurance matters including coverage opinions, Directors’ and Officer’s liability, professional liability, property damage, construction and personal injury claims.

In her litigation practice, Jody represents corporations and individuals in contractual disputes and claims regarding negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. She also has experience with the enforcement and collection of judgments, including reciprocal enforcement of judgments.


•Regularly represents plaintiffs in claims for defamation and malicious prosecution.
•Represents both plaintiffs and defendants in actions involving claims of professional negligence with respect to investment advice.
•Regularly represents corporations and individuals in a variety of contractual disputes and negligence actions.
•Has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta.


•Represents and advises employers and employees on a variety of issues, including termination, discipline, human rights, and employment standards.
•Assists and advises employers in developing, implementing, revising and enforcing various policies and employment contracts.
•Advises employers on various dismissal issues, including establishing just cause to dismiss, reasonable severance pay, and strategies to avoid wrongful dismissal actions.
•Experience conducting workplace investigations involving allegations of discrimination and harassment.
•Assists in advising executives in negotiations of employment agreements and on rights and obligations upon departure.
•Reviews and provides advice to employees on employment contracts, specific employment terms and severance agreements.
•Represents and advises employers in respect of complaints before the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
•Advises employers regarding the drafting, implementation and application of employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, non-competition and confidentiality provisions, and general employment policies and practices.
