John Gilbert: Attorney with Field Law

Biography

John Gilbert joined Field Law in November 2011 as a lawyer in the Insurance and General Litigation Groups. John's background includes a Bachelor of Education with distinction, teaching English overseas, winning the 2009 Alberta Court of Appeal Moot Court Competition, directing the University of Alberta Law Show, and volunteering with Student Legal Services of Edmonton.

At Field Law, John's insurance practice includes dealing with a wide variety of insurance claims including: casualty, motor vehicle, accident benefits, property loss, personal injury, professional liability, errors and omissions, employment, fraud, condominium disputes, coverage, bad faith claims, and sureties. John has acted in test cases for insurers looking to establish case law within the Provincial Court of Alberta and for insurers looking for an economical means of resolving matters before the Courts or through settlement.

Outside of insurance and sureties, John's focus is in assisting clients who are involved in disputes relating to: contracts, debt collection, condominium law, and court procedures.

John's focus on written and oral advocacy has led him to represent clients in non-binding mediations, judicial dispute resolutions, chambers, special chambers, arbitrations, trials, and appeals. Through his advocacy John has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, as well as before administrative tribunals and arbitration panels.
