Biography

Steven's practice focuses on the areas of insurance & risk management, commercial litigation and energy, environmental & regulatory law.

Steven represents national insurers on a variety of liability and damages claims, including slip and fall and other minor personal injury claims for landlords and property owners; motor vehicle accident matters; and leaky condominium claims. He has also represented auditors in relation to professional negligence claims.

Steven represents corporations and individuals in a variety of commercial litigation disputes, including small claims matters.

Steven prepares and assists with submissions for hearings before administrative tribunals including the Energy Resources Conservation Board and the Alberta Utilities Commission. He also provides research support to senior counsel performing consulting services for major oil and gas companies and regulatory boards and agencies.

Experience

•Represents individual and corporate plaintiffs seeking judgment on defaulted loans and real property disputes.
•Represents individuals and corporations in a variety of industries in relation to negligence, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty litigation.
•Represents insurance companies in relation to liability and damage claims relating to personal injury, property damage, and insurance coverage disputes.
•Has acted as a member of legal teams representing creditors and debtors in builders lien and Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act proceedings.
•Participated in numerous Judicial Dispute Resolution and Mediation proceedings.
•Represented an construction creditors in successfully obtaining summary judgment arising from unpaid invoices.
•Successfully defended property owners at trial in relation to breach of contract.
•Appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta.
