  • On February 18, in the first bill-signing ceremony of 2005, President Bush signed into action the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005 ("Class Action Fairness Act" or "Act"). The Act was passed by the House with a vote of 279- 149, after sweeping through the Senate on a 72-26 vote only seven days earlier. The bill made it through the 109th Congress without any amendments, perhaps because it had already faced much debate and many revisions over the past decade.
