Shea is a 2017 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law. During law school, she was active on the school's mock trial team where her team advanced and competed at the national level. In addition to mock trial, Shea was an editor on the Missouri Law Review and a member of the Women's Law Association.

Before joining Ford, Parshall & Baker, Shea was employed at the Missouri Attorney General's Office, where she was an attorney in the Litigation Division. Her duties at the AGO primarily included defending state agencies and state employees, including members of the Missouri Department of Corrections and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. At both the state and federal levels, she drafted pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions, and prepared cases for both bench trials and jury trials.

In her spare time, Shea enjoys running, baking, and painting.
