James H. Elliott, Jr. joined Richardson Plowden in 2012 as a shareholder in the Charleston office. He focuses his practice in general litigation, professional liability, construction law, products liability, and insurance defense. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) in 1989. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Elliott was a licensed insurance adjuster, handling property and casualty claims. In 1997, Mr. Elliott earned his Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law. While attending law school, he was a member of the honors society, Order of the Wig & Robe, and clerked at the South Carolina Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation.
Mr. Elliott has extensive experience in civil trial practice as well as experience in appellate practice. He has tried over 50 cases to verdict and has handled numerous appellate matters. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, American Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.
