Conveyancing

When buying or selling a piece of real estate, ownership is transferred using a legal document known as the title. The process of transferring the title from seller to buyer is known as conveyancing, and occurs in several stages during the purchase process. The transaction begins when a prospective buyer makes an offer on a piece of property. After that offer has been accepted, then a contract--often containing a number of conditions that must be met--is drawn up with the assistance of the real estate attorneys representing both the buyer and seller.
