•In April 2005, when looking for experts to discuss end-of-life medical decisions during coverage of the Terri Schiavo case, local radio and television stations and print publications, as well as Internet news sites and syndicated news services, all turned to Glenda Brewer. She provided the answers about living wills (known in Texas as a Directives to Physicians ) that were on the forefront of many American minds. Glenda’s message was, It is important to make your wishes known now to those who are closest to you now, when you are able, and then put those same wishes in writing. Having a prepared living will is not an ironclad guarantee your wishes will be followed, but it creates a clear line of authority on who will be asked to make the decisions for you.
