Biography

Paul Clevenger graduated from Southern Methodist Law School in 1983, where he was a member of and published author for the prestigious Southwestern Law Journal. Paul began his career as a briefing attorney to Chief Justice Howard Fender of the 2nd Court of Appeals in Fort Worth. He practiced as a real estate attorney for five years, negotiating and closing numerous commercial real estate transactions for major Dallas developers.

In 1989, Paul began handling litigation matters. Since that time, Paul has litigated many different types of business cases. Paul has litigated small cases for individual clients, as well as complex cases for business clients involving large sums. In 1999, Paul was heavily involved in the trial of Carl v. Keraga, a landmark medical malpractice case that appeared on the cover of the Houston Chronicle twice during the trial.

Paul is a talented legal writer. Paul goes into court not only with excellent presentation skills, but also with well written briefs and motions. Because of his legal writing skill, other attorneys often employ him to perform this work on their cases. Paul has also litigated numerous appeals during his career, both for clients directly and for attorneys who have requested Paul to handle appeals on behalf of their clients.

Paul believes that proper research, thorough preparation and case analysis are of critical importance in achieving a favorable outcome. He devotes a great deal of effort and attention to his cases and often finds a case or statute that is critical to a positive outcome.

Paul Clevenger is licensed to practice law before all state courts of Texas, the Federal District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the North Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. Paul served for many years as a member of the Dallas Bar publications committee, and has spoken to his colleagues at Bar functions on various litigation topics.
