Environmental Litigation and Counseling Services

An Environmental Law Boutique, the Daggett Law Firm was founded to provide clients the direct services of highly experienced environmental legal counsel, with an ability to control legal fees in ways that are difficult for larger law firms. We pursue solutions that will maximize environmentally beneficial results at the lowest cost necessary to comply with regulatory and cleanup requirements. The Firm is a member of the Leading Lawyers Network, and achieved the highest rating for legal ability in Martindale-Hubbell.

The Firm handles:
- complex environmental litigation on damages, remediation, insurance & regulatory enforcement; licensed member of the state bar in Colorado and Illinois, on the federal bar in several nearby U.S. District Courts;
- business and real estate transactions that involve substantial environmental liabilities; and
- judicial and administrative proceedings involving government regulatory agencies.

Clients include:
- Fortune 500 Companies and Small Businesses; Real Estate Owners and Developers; Local Government Bodies; Non-Profit Organizations

ENVIRONMENTAL CO-COUNSEL TO OTHER LAW FIRMS: The firm regularly provides other law firms environmental co-counsel or consultation for their clients' litigation or transactions due to their firm's lack of attorneys devoted to environmental law, conflicts of interest, or their need for local counsel.

The Daggett Law Firm's office at 1551 Larimer Street is located in downtown Denver walking distance from Colorado State Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and both state and federal appellate courts. The firm was established in January, 2004, as a spin-off of the environmental practice of a 200-attorney litigation firm, where Mr. Daggett served as an Equity Partner in the Litigation Practice Group, and a co-chair of the Environmental Practice Group.

The Daggett Law Firm and Mr. Daggett achieved the highest rating for legal ability in Martindale-Hubbell, and are members of the Leading Lawyers Network, an invitation only network of lawyers that have been nominated for recognition by other prominent attorneys who are competitors of the nominee in their field of practice.

The Leading Lawyers Network publishes a biography of Mr. Daggett and the professional accomplishments that led to his nomination to the Network on their website.

Mr. Daggett brings a combination of extensive and varied environmental law experience, and a multi-disciplinary academic background, the service of his clients.

Mr. Daggett holds a BS degree in Chemistry, a MS degree in Environmental Engineering, and additional post graduate credits in Toxicology, in addition to his Juris Doctorate. He applies this multi-disciplinary background to help clients resolve lawsuits and transactions that involve a mixture of legal and technical issues. It also aids his handing of matters that require the selection and management of technical experts or engineering consultants.

He devoted the first decade of his career to public service, spending two years representing the Illinois state EPA, and then nine years representing the U.S. EPA, ultimately as Section Chief in the Office of Regional Counsel. During this period, he also served one year appointments as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, an Expert Advisor to the U.S. State Department, and a Special Assistant Illinois Attorney General.

Upon entering private practice, he served clients for over a decade as an Equity Partner in a 200-attorney Chicago litigation firm, where he was a co-chair of the Environmental Practice Group and a member of the Litigation Practice Department. During this time he worked with colleagues on a U.S. Supreme Court environmental case, winning a 9-0 unanimous victory. He has handled a broad variety of environmental litigation and counseling matters under the numerous federal and state environmental and health & safety statutes, including CERCLA, the CWA, RCRA, the CAA, TSCA, EPCRA, FIFRA, and OSHA.

Business clients that Mr. Daggett has represented in their environmental litigation and transactions have included numerous major corporations in the manufacturing and chemical industries.

    Tom represented my family in an environmental law action and did a terrific job. His combination of litigation skills and environmental law knowledge makes him one of the best attorneys in the Chicagoland area. I would highly recommend his representation.
