Chelsey Bailey: Attorney with Field Law


Chelsey Bailey is a civil litigator practicing in the areas of health care, defence of professional negligence claims and professional regulation. Chelsey is experienced in defending various health professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists, paramedics and EMT's along with police officers and accountants in professional negligence actions. She represents institutional health care clients including health authorities, acute care hospitals and long term care facilities, in both civil actions and provincial fatality inquiries. Chelsey was part of the team representing Alberta Health Services at the 2012/2013 Public Inquiry into Preferential Access to Health Services.

A staunch proponent of professional self-regulation, Chelsey represents professional regulatory organizations in disciplinary proceedings, reviews, appeals and investigations by the Office of the Alberta Ombudsmen. She regularly provides advice to health related professional regulatory bodies on issues such as registration, substantial equivalency, continuing competence, investigations, standards and policy development and bylaw review. Chelsey appears before all levels of Court in Alberta and before various administrative tribunals including the Health Disciplines Board, the Public Health Appeals Board and the Law Enforcement Review Board. Chelsey enjoys presenting on medical malpractice matters, professional liability and professional regulatory issues.
