Biography

Derek Cranna maintains a practice focusing on labour, employment, professional discipline, and litigation matters. In the labour and employment context, his practice emphasizes labour relations, grievance management and consensual arbitration, occupational health and safety, human rights, workers' compensation, and Employment Insurance issues. On the litigation side, he acts for both employers and employees in wrongful dismissal cases, and has experience in constitutional and Charter claims, primarily in the aboriginal context. He has acted as lead counsel at all levels of Court in Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as the trial and appellate divisions of the Federal Court of Canada. He also appears frequently before public and private administrative tribunals on behalf of employers and employees.
