Gary sat on the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) in Strathcona county for a number of years and has been involved in various hearings in front of the SDAB. He sought leave to appeal at the Alberta Court of Appeal on a decision related to Offsite Levies and is quite familiar with the appeal process. Further, he has advised clients on protracted and challenging development matters.
Gary is one of the few lawyers in Canada to have extensive experience as an Independent Supervising Solicitor and Counsel of Record for parties in Anton Piller Orders (civil search warrants).
He also has significant experience as lead counsel on numerous, multi-party, high-stakes litigation files and has pursued and defended numerous complex actions involving contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, commercial disputes, landlord and tenant matters as well as product liability cases.
Gary advises major institutional insurance clients on automobile, CGL and property matters.

•Represents employees/shareholders in developing corporate exit strategies. Successes include acquiring a payout of nearly 10 times the amount initially desired by a client
•Represents large energy companies in the collection of doubtful accounts
•Represents a small, closely held, successful company in various litigation files, including: debt, breach of contract and negligence matters, with “wins” on all matters to date
•Represents landlords and tenants in commercial lease negotiations, as well as resolving disputes including: percentage rent, common area cost disagreements, non-payment of rent and quiet enjoyment
•Represents claimants in land disputes

•Designs and executes customized in-house occupational health and safety training programs for clients across Canada, and has presented over 70 seminars in the past three years
•Represents Alberta's largest medical group in relation to various OHS matters, with a focus on the relationship between clinics, doctors and medical OHS considerations
•Represents one of Canada's largest retail grocers in establishing a strong/comprehensive due diligence program supported through training
•Represents major oil, energy and manufacturing companies on various OHS matters
•Represents major institutional, automobile, commercial general liability and property insurers on liability, damage, coverage and subrogation issues
•Provides coverage opinions regarding insurer's duty to defend and duty to indemnify
•Promotes and defends fire loss claims
•One of the few lawyers in Canada with significant experience in Anton Piller matters
