Joël Michaud: Attorney with Field Law

Biography

Joel Michaud's practice is focused on human rights, labour and employment law.

He provides advice on a variety of matters, including employment standards, employment contracts, human rights, wrongful dismissals, workplace policies, grievance arbitration, labour disputes, drug and alcohol testing, workplace privacy, and investigations into allegations of workplace harassment. Joel is fluently bilingual and provides advice in both English and French.

Joel represents clients before various administrative tribunals, including the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, grievance and interest arbitrators and the Alberta Labour Relations Board. Joel has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen's Bench in wrongful dismissal and judicial review matters.

Prior to joining Field Law, Joel was an Associate in the Labour and Employment group of a national law firm's Toronto office.

During his legal studies, Joel completed an assignment at the Canadian Industrial Relations Board in Ottawa. He was also a member of the University of Ottawa's team at the Rene Cassin Competition on Human Rights held in Strasbourg, France and a Senior Editor of the Ottawa Law Review.

Before attending law school, Joel spent three years in the federal public service in Edmonton, working in several capacities, including managerial.
