Biography

Bob Teskey has a general corporate commercial solicitor’s practice which concentrates on strategic business and litigation advice, corporate restructuring, securities, commercial real estate and contract negotiation. He regularly acts as an arbitrator in commercial matters. He has acted as lead counsel to many major businesses with respect to corporate, business and securities transactions. Bob has had primary responsibility for transactions leading to the restructuring of major Canadian corporations. He has also participated in the completion of major transactions, which have required innovative strategies and approaches involving difficult negotiations. He acted as lead counsel for the Province of Alberta in the negotiation of the Province's financing and repayment of the Alpac project as well as with respect to the exit of the Province from its investment in Vencap. Much of the work Bob has undertaken has been in various centres throughout Canada and the United States.

A significant part of Bob's practice involves giving advice and drafting new policies in various areas related to ethics, conflicts of interest and related matters for both for profit and not for profit entities and in particular agencies of or related to government.

Bob has authored a chapter on Joint Ventures in Canada in the Dow Jones Handbook of Joint Ventures . He is also the author of a chapter on corporate restructuring in Case Studies in Recent Canadian Reorganizations published by Carswell in honour of retired Justice Lloyd W. Houlden. He is a contributing editor to the Canadian Law Newsletter of the American Bar Association on corporate and commercial issues.

As Managing Partner of his firm for 25 years, Bob participated in and provided strategic advice with respect to various pieces of major litigation undertaken by the firm. As general counsel to significant business and institutional clients, he has helped develop key litigation and negotiation strategies to deal with unique challenges.
