Biography

Ryan is an associate focusing on litigation, insolvency and restructuring as well insurance matters. He adopts a client-focused approach to his practice to provide efficient and effective results.

Ryan advises clients in a wide range of litigation matters including small claims, collections, personal injury, defamation, and directors' liability. He has experience assisting individuals and businesses in bankruptcy proceedings and has assisted senior counsel in a corporate restructuring under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.

Ryan has appeared before the Court of Queen's Bench and administrative tribunals on a wide range of matters and has assisted senior counsel at the Alberta Court of Appeal.

Restructuring & Insolvency

•Assists creditors is realizing on debts owed to them by insolvent persons.
•Represents financial institutions with respect to claims and litigation under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
•Represents lenders in debt collection and secured lending.
•Assisted senior counsel with restructuring a company under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
•Assists receivers, monitors and trustees in bankruptcy.

Litigation

•Represents landlords in tenancy disputes before the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service and the Court of Queen's Bench.
•Assists individuals and companies in small claims matters.
•Counsel to clients requiring assistance with collections matters.
•Represents insurers with respect to motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, as well as directors and officers liability.
•Represents individuals in defamation actions.
•Assisted senior counsel in representing an insurer in defending a motor vehicle claim.
•Assisted senior counsel in representing a municipality in a zoning and land development dispute.
