- Make a difference in the lives of U.S. soldiers and injured veterans around the world by joining us at the 7th Annual Bunkers in Baghdad Benefit in Chicago. The funds raised will help send golf equipment to our troops and allow them to experience the game’s rehabilitative and recreational benefits.
The event is set for Wednesday, June 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Ranalli’s, located at 1925 N. Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Tickets are $50 and the event includes open bar and appetizers. You’ll be able to try your luck at raffles and participate in a great silent auction, with items ranging from gift certificates for Chicago’s best restaurants to a Winter Classic jersey signed by the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. As if the raffles, drinks, and auctions aren’t enough, representatives from Topgolf Chicago will also be there with their prize wheel of fun.
Bunkers in Baghdad was founded by Joseph M. Hanna, an avid golfer who leads the Sports and Entertainment Practice Group at Goldberg Segalla. Since its founding in 2008, the non-profit organization has provided 7 million golf balls and 502,200 golf clubs to troops throughout all 50 U.S. states and in 45 countries - in combat zones, active military installations, and VA hospitals. It’s evident that this initiative has touched the lives of countless soldiers and veterans, demonstrated in part by the numerous thank-you letters Bunkers in Baghdad has received.
“Bunkers in Baghdad is doing something for us that is unexplainable,” wrote a sergeant at the Forward Operating Base Diamondback in Iraq. “The joy and happiness you are bringing to our lives makes us sleep easier at night.”
Because Bunkers in Baghdad runs 100 percent on donations - from the golf balls it collects to the funds needed to cover shipping costs - fundraisers like the Chicago benefit are critical to the organization’s mission.
