  • The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”), signed into law in March of 2010, established the “Elder Justice Act” (the “Act”) which aims at eliminating elder abuse at federally-funded long-term care (“LTC”) facilities. The Act establishes several funds and research grants to achieve this goal, but most significantly institutes requirements for reporting of crimes against a facility resident in LTC facilities.
