• 2012 Year-End Compliance Update, Are You Ready?

  • Each year sponsors of qualified retirement plans are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that their plans are in compliance with regulatory and other guidance that may require an amendment by year end. 2012 is no exception. There are also year-end issues that employers sponsoring nonqualified deferred compensation plans and health and welfare plans need to consider. This Client Alert highlights key plan provisions that may require an amendment on or before the end of the plan year beginning on or after January 1, 2012 (i.e., December 31, 2012 for calendar-year plans, the "2012 Plan Year") and identifies enforcement agenda items of the Internal Revenue Service for 2013. Remember, compliance is the key to avoiding fiduciary liability and potentially costly corrections.
