  • On October 6, 2005, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law the California Clean Coast Act (S.B. 771). The Clean Coast Act (the "Act") restricts and/or prohibits "Large Passenger Vessels" and "Oceangoing Ships" over 300 gross tons from operating incinerators or discharging oily bilgewater, graywater, sewage, sewage sludge, hazardous wastes and certain other wastes within three miles of the California coast. The Act will become effective January 1, 2006.
