The Law Offices of Arthur F. Lafionatis, P.C., concentrate in the areas of commercial real estate, general business representation and business planning, commercial lending, technology and cybersecurity law, and estate planning and probate. The substantial experience of the members and of-counsel to the firm and its size allows the firm to give sophisticated legal counsel on a direct and personalized level, with the attorneys often becoming a part of the client's business team as well as addressing the client's more traditional legal needs. The firm's clients include a diverse spectrum of individuals, small and medium size companies, institutional clients, lending institutions and private schools. Although primarily active in Washington, D. C., Virginia and Maryland, the firm's representation of its clients has, in addition, frequently led to involvement in matters in other parts of the United States and has involved international matters as well.

Description for Commercial Lending:

The Practice includes the representation of lenders in commercial and real estate loans and similar transactions. This includes acquisition, construction and permanent real estate based financing, along with business lines of credit, secured transactions, and equipment financing, including vendor financed transactions.

Description for Cyber Security:

Nearly every company is at cyber risk and needs to protect the privacy of its customers, clients, employees and colleagues. Addressing and mitigating cyber risk needs to be top of mind among companies regardless of industry or size. Reports of high-profile cyber-attacks make headlines almost every day, and the headlines confirm the reality: cyber-attacks are on the rise with unprecedented frequency, sophistication, and scale. They are pervasive across industries and geographical boundaries.

In the wake of more frequent and severe cyber incidents, regulators around the world have implemented changes to address these heightened risks. Amid increased exposure to such risks, companies need assistance in handling security breaches and preventing future cybersecurity threats.

We help our clients to assess network/data security and insurance coverage prior to an attack to dealing with the aftermath of an attack, and assist clients with all aspects of addressing and mitigating cyber risks and risks to data requiring protection by law.
