Ms. Barber focuses her practice on family law and is board certified as a Family Law Specialist through the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Barber represents clients on all issues related to dissolution of marriage (divorce) and determination of parentage cases, including: custody, child support, spousal, and property division. She also represents parties in domestic violence and civil harassment restraining order matters. Ms. Barber has experience in grandparent visitation cases under the Family Code as well as both agreed upon and contested guardianship of the person cases brought under the Probate Code. Ms. Barber has received over 40 hour of training in collaborative divorce.
Ms. Barber has worked with the Solano County Court as a court appointed family law mediator, serves as a pro tem small claims judge, and previously served as an on-call pro tem domestic-violence judge prior to the court terminating that program. She also completed extensive training in representing children in 2008 and 2009 and served on the court's panel for appointment as minor's counsel from 2008-2010.
Ms. Barber has presented at local seminars on representing children and preparing judgments in family law cases and is scheduled to present at the National Business Institute's Handling Divorce Cases from Start to Finish in Sacramento in May 2012.
