Family Mediation in Portland, OR

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution that enables parties to settle their disagreements in an environment that is more amicable and less adversarial than the courtroom. Mediation is well-suited for conflicts between individuals who expect to have an ongoing relationship with one another, including married and divorcing couples. Attorneys experienced in family law mediation can work with couples to negotiate post-nuptial agreements, reconciliation agreements and cohabitation agreements. Divorcing couples--particularly those who are parents--will want to hire family law mediators to assist with negotiating any or all aspects of a divorce, including alimony negotiations, property division, child custody agreements, child support and visitation schedules. Family mediation law firms can also work with divorced parents to resolve post-decree disputes.
