In August 2004 Ian joined the Toronto litigation firm of Zarek Taylor Grossman Hanrahan LLP where he gained extensive experience as lead counsel at mediations, pre-arbitrations and arbitrations at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board tribunal hearings, private and mandatory mediations, pre-trials, motions and trials. Since being admitted to practice law in the Cayman Islands in August 2009, Ian's practice has concentrated on insolvency, corporate recovery, corporate fraud, commercial litigation and high net worth family law litigation. Ian joined HSM as a Senior Associate in March 2013 and he became a Partner in 2014.

Ian is a part of International Academy of Estate and Trust Law and received the Christopher Simpson Prize for Public International Law, 1982; Lizette Bentwich Prize, 1982
