Biography

Chris Lauderdale is a Principal in the Greenville, South Carolina, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He has been actively engaged in the practice of labor and employment law on behalf of poultry, pork and other food processors throughout his entire career.

Mr. Lauderdale currently focuses more than 95% of his practice on issues affecting food processing employers. Mr. Lauderdale regularly defends employers in multi-plaintiff and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Rule 23 class actions alleging violations of state wage payment, minimum wage, and overtime laws. Mr. Lauderdale has defended more than 50 such asserted class and collective actions. Mr. Lauderdale has extensive experience advising and representing clients in collective bargaining, representing clients before the National Labor Relations Board, representing clients in labor arbitration, and advising clients during union organizing attempts and corporate campaigns. He also regularly assists clients with immigration compliance under federal and state law.

Mr. Lauderdale has represented employers and trade organizations before various state and federal administrative agencies, state and federal trial and appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court. On issues of significance to processing employers, Mr. Lauderdale has regularly submitted amicus curiae briefs to the Federal Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court and has also submitted commentary on proposed regulations. His specific practice areas further include USERRA and the WARN Act. Mr. Lauderdale is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics, including wage and hour law, immigration compliance, EEO and labor law.
