  • Although the Food and Drug Administration has delayed the effective date of the federal drug pedigree rules until December 1, 2006, Texas authorities continue to move ahead with implementation of the Texas drug pedigree rules. The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) has circulated draft proposed rules which would require wholesale distributors of prescription drugs to pass along a drug pedigree for each prescription drug that is provided outside the "normal distribution chain." A stakeholders meeting on the draft proposed rules will be held in Austin on Friday, May 5th.
