  • The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act ("HITECH Act"), signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("Recovery Act"), allocated approximately $17 billion to the Medicare and Medicaid programs for the purpose of increasing reimbursement to hospitals and physicians that are "meaningful electronic health records ("EHR") users."
