Charlie has been in practice in Montana since 1986. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English (with honors) from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1982. From there he went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the National Moot Court team, and he was admitted to the Order of the Barristers.

Following graduation, Charlie relocated to Montana. Charlie spent the next 12 years as counsel for the Montana State Fund. During that time, he practiced full-time in the area of workers’ compensation, trying dozens of cases to the Workers’ Compensation Court, and handling numerous appeals to the Montana Supreme Court. As a consequence, Charlie has significant experience and expertise in the field of Montana workers’ compensation law and practice.

Charlie’s practice with the Keller Law Firm continues to draw on his experience in workers’ compensation. He has been called upon to assist insurers, employers, and injured workers in all manner of disputes and litigation. As well, his practice emphasizes civil litigation, appeals, employment law, and insurance disputes.

As a member of the State Bar of Montana, Charlie has served on the Lawyers’ Referral Service Committee and as Chairman of the Montana Lawyer Board of Editors. The State Bar recognized his work on the Board of Editors with a Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Montana, the U.S. District Court of Montana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In 1999, Charlie served a one-year term as President of the First Judicial District Bar Association.

Outside of work, Charlie’s interests and hobbies include running and hiking the hills surrounding Helena and beyond, watching Cornhusker football and Cubs baseball, vegetable gardening, cooking, skiing, and travel.
