Biography

Peter Mariano Cordovano was born in Manhattan, NY, raised in Queens, NY, and resides in New Paltz, NY. Attorney Cordovano received a Bachelor's degree in the pre-medical sciences from Manhattan College in the Bronx, NY in 1981, and received his Doctorate of Law from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Touro Law Center in Huntington, NY in 1986.

Attorney Cordovano's legal experience has been with the Dutchess County Public Defender's Office in Poughkeepsie, NY; the New York State Attorney General's Office in Poughkeepsie, NY; Finkelstein, Kaplan, Levine, Gittlesohn & Tetenbaum in Newburgh, NY; and Anthony M. Barraco, P.C. in Highland, NY. He established his own firm, Peter M. Cordovano, P.C., in 1992.

Peter M. Cordovano, Esq. maintains professional memberships in the New York State Bar Association; the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; the Colombian Lawyers of Rockland County; the Ulster County Bar & Dutchess County Bar Associations; the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives; and the New York State Injured Workers' Bar Association.

Attorney Cordovano's other memberships include the Alpha Phi Delta Alumni Association. He is also a former Executive Board member of the Ulster County Bar Association (2 terms), and is a past member of the American Trial Lawyers and American Bar Associations. Mr. Cordovano is active in the Community of New Paltz, as he is a long time sponsor of little league baseball and softball, numerous fundraisers and as a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Attorney Cordovano was a motorcade driver for Ronald Reagan in New York City during his first term as President. For many years, Mr. Cordovano also served his state, county and town as a Delegate to the NYS Third District's Judicial Committee; as a Board of Ethics member to the Ulster County Legislature, assisting in a substantial rewrite of that County's Ethics Law in 2007 and 2008; and as a Board of Ethics member to the Village of New Paltz.

Peter M. Cordovano, Esq. lectures on attorney ethics, having been accredited for such presentation by the NYS Injured Workers Bar Association. Attorney Cordovano is "BV Peer-Review Rated" by Martindale Hubbell. This rating attests to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and has been part of the legal community since 1887.     is not good with follow up or getting records from doctors. I had better luck getting my reports than he did, and didn't even realize at a hearing that they were hand delivered to his office by me personally.
