Biography

Personal Injury Attorney—Texas

John Sloan was born in Kilgore, Texas and has lived and worked in East Texas his entire life. He is now a happily married man with two children. Mr. Sloan attended Baylor University and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1977. From here, he went on to attend Baylor School of Law from which he graduated in 1980. Upon graduation, he was quickly admitted to the State Bar of Texas and has been a member in good standing ever since.

Mr. Sloan's case history goes far beyond Texas. He has also successfully prosecuted cases in Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, California, Missouri, Maryland and Michigan. He is admitted to practice in all four United States District Courts of Texas as well as the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.

He is a member of many professional and legal associations, including the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. For the years 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, he was named by Texas Monthly Magazine to the list of Texas Super Lawyers® . Being included in this list is an honor that less than five percent of attorneys in each state receive annually. Lawyers are accepted based on peer reviews and objective criteria.

Another notable achievement is that Mr. Sloan is a certified Civil Trial Advocate with the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) and also a Board Certified Personal Injury Trial Lawyer with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). These are both extremely prestigious organizations that only a small fraction of Texas attorneys can boast. The qualification process is rigorous, and only the best of the best are certified. Overall, less than ten percent of attorneys are Board Certified by the TBLS and fewer than four percent of all practicing lawyers are certified by the NBTA/American Bar Association.
