• New Form I-9 Released - Employers Should Begin Using It Immediately

  • Last Friday, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services released a new Form I-9, the form that employers use to verify the employment eligibility of applicants. Employers should begin using the new form immediately.

    Employers are permitted to use the previously valid form for new applicants until May 7, 2013. Employers do not need to have current employees fill out the new Form 1-9, unless re-verification otherwise applies to the employee(s) in question.

    The new form is substantially similar to the old form. Notable changes include it now being a two-page form and new fields for email addresses, phone numbers, and foreign passport information.
