  • According to media reports, U.S. citizens applying for business or visitor visas to Pakistan may be subject to heightened scrutiny and extensive security checks. As such, citizens of the United States who are planning travel to Pakistan in the near future should be prepared for processing delays and should thoroughly review their applications and all supporting documents prior to submission to ensure they are complete and free of any inadvertent errors.

There are also reports that Pakistani authorities have increased efforts to identify, investigate and bring legal actions against individuals who overstay their visas. Visa holders should therefore be mindful of their authorized period of stay while in Pakistan to avoid accidental overstays.
