- Update on Visa Processing for Applicants in the United States
- June 26, 2013
- Law Firm: Fragomen Del Rey Bernsen Loewy LLP - New York Office
Travisa Visa Service, India’s current visa processing vendor in the United States, will cease regular visa processing on June 22, 2013, accepting only visa applications from individuals with confirmed travel dates before July 10 or applicants with a documented life-or-death family emergency or wedding invitation. On July 1, India will transfer processing duties for all visa applications submitted in the United States to a new outsourcing firm.
Visa applications that are still being adjudicated on June 28 will be transferred to and completed by the new outsourcing firm.
India is changing its visa services vendor due to a government mandate that requires outsourcing contracts to be made with Indian-owned firms only. The requirement was put in place in response to a U.S. government directive allowing only U.S. companies to win contracts for visa services in India.
