- Effective 31 January 2015, Immigration New Zealand will change the immigration medical examination process from paper based medical certificates to the eMedical on-line health processing arrangement. Due to the limited number of panel doctors with approved e-Medical facilities, Fragomen anticipates that this will likely result in delays in obtaining medical appointments.
Foreign nationals applying for visas for New Zealand may be required to complete medical certificates to demonstrate that they have an acceptable standard of health. Effective 31 January 2015, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will change the medical examination process for medical certificates required for New Zealand visa applications to an online health processing system.
For those countries where the medical examinations for immigration purposes must be undertaken by an INZ Panel Doctor, such medicals will need to be completed electronically using the ‘eMedical’ online immigration health processing system developed by Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
The number of INZ panel doctors with approved eMedical facilities is substantially reduced from the previous approved INZ panel doctor list (for example, where there was previously 155 INZ approved panel doctors in the United Kingdom, there are now only 8 INZ approved eMedical clinics). As a result, it is expected that from 31 January 2015, there may be lengthy delays in obtaining medical appointments.
Foreign nationals are advised that if they have not already completed a medical examination by 31 January 2015, they should confirm that the examination will be undertaken by an INZ approved panel doctor with eMedical facilities, details of which can be found - check http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/skilledmigrant/LinkAdministration/ToolboxLinks/paneldoctors.htm?level=1
