- Law Firm: Fragomen Del Rey Bernsen Loewy LLP - New York Office
On or after January 1, 2017, the one-time fee for recognized sponsorship will decrease to EUR 2,592 (from the current fee of EUR 5,183) for small businesses and start ups with fewer than 50 employees. Recognized companies that change their corporate structure, and therefore need to file a new recognized sponsorship application, can also benefit from the lower fee.
Also, on or after January 1, 2017, the government filing fee for knowledge migrant applications will increase from EUR 881 to EUR 910 for all recognized sponsors.
What This Means for Employers
Small businesses and start ups seeking to become recognized sponsors should benefit from the lower one-time fee. Companies that seek to file a new application can contact their immigration professional for guidance.
All recognized sponsors should be prepared for the higher filing fee for knowledge migrant applications effective January 1, 2017.
