Philip Zimmerly is a partner in the Labor and Employment and Litigation Groups. His diverse practice has included cases involving employment law, business and contract disputes, intellectual property, constitutional law, property disputes, and personal injury. He has represented clients during investigations by various administrative agencies and the NCAA, at administrative and courts hearings, and at jury trials in both federal and state courts. He has also represented clients in appeals to the Indiana Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits.

Prior to joining Bose McKinney & Evans in October 2012, Mr. Zimmerly served as a judicial law clerk for The Honorable Bobby Shepherd on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and The Honorable Yvette Kane in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He was also legislative counsel for the ranking member on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts. During law school, Mr. Zimmerly was a legal intern at the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Outside the Office

He and his wife, Dana, met at the University of Alabama and are fervent Crimson Tide fans. They are members of Parkside Bible Church in Brownsburg, where they are both involved in the youth and children’ s ministry of the church, and he is a member of the church finance committee and men’ s ministry leadership team.

Mr. Zimmerly has previously been involved as a four-year mentor with the Starfish Initiative, a nonprofit aimed at encouraging college success for Indianapolis high school students. Since 2014, he has served as a volunteer intake attorney and pro bono counsel for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, a nonprofit providing pro bono legal assistance to low income families in Indianapolis. Mr. Zimmerly also volunteers as the head coach of his daughters’ U-6 soccer team with Upward Soccer and Hendricks County Community Soccer, and he plays on Bose Means Buckets, the firm’ s Indianapolis lawyer’ s league basketball team.
