The Firm regularly assists property owners, REITS, and investor groups in developing residential, retail, commercial and industrial properties. This representation ranges from evaluating subdivision map act compliance issues, negotiating development agreements to documenting the purchase or sale of real property. When a project involves environmental issues, such as compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), we assemble a team of in-house professionals and outside consultants to address the issues in a manner that minimizes litigation and controversy. We also represent financial institutions, such as commercial banks and insurance companies, in connection with lending transactions secured by real property, and issue opinion letters regarding California law on behalf of lenders. We also have extensive experience in representing construction industry clients. The success of any large scale real estate development depends on avoiding costly and time consuming litigation. Such disputes include breach of contract actions, misunderstandings between the general contractor and subcontractors, as well as mechanics liens and Miller Act filings. Our attorneys have successfully represented developers, architects, engineers, and other design professionals against construction and design defect suits, as well as surety bond issues.
