Community Associations

Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco’s community association lawyers are nationally recognized in all aspects of community association law, in part because we have written many of the laws that protect association members. With more than 125 years of collective community association law experience, we understand the needs of homeowner, condominium and cooperative associations, how they operate and how the law affects them.

We represent associations across Georgia and South Carolina, assisting with issues such as:

  • Unpaid assessments
  • Covenant violations
  • Past due collections
  • Major repairs and renovations
  • Leadership development and board member transition
  • Vendor contracts
  • Homeowner apathy

Our community association practice is committed to:

  • Providing the best client service possible
  • Preserving the financial health of community associations
  • Maintaining property values by enforcing association covenants
  • Protecting the quality of life of community residents
  • Defending or pursuing the association’s business and legal interests
  • Supporting the industry through the volunteer efforts and financial support to national industry related organizations.

They have done two closings for me in the past, with no drama, and when I called and asked them to help with another closing this week, I was told someone would get back to me. No one called back. So I called another WNC office and spoke to Ms. Melcher who informed me she was not interested in helping with my closing because, according to her email, "you really need to research the impact on your agricultural assessment prior to closing, so we can't help you." Left me scratching my head...

On advice of my real estate agent, I retained the services of WNCW for the closing. It was not until at the closing that WNCW insisted I have documentation for work that was not supposed to happen until after I became the owner of the unit. How am I supposed to produce documentation for something that hasn't happened yet? WNCW's abundance of caution was as aggressive as their stupidity.

MUGGED!! in a simple residential closing, their contract was vague, their communication terrible: the attorney never explained the process or his role to me (a non-attorney and first-house buyer), he never asked me whether i wanted to approve him to do additional work (due to an unexpected situation at the house), he never told me i was accumulating hours that were going to be billed above closing costs. then i got his bill. seven months later, we're still arguing. ROBBED!!!
