  • On July 28, 2003, President Bush signed into law the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act of 2003 (the "Act"), which expands the sanctions currently in force against Burma. On July 29, 2003, the President issued an Executive Order implementing the legislation, which includes an asset freeze, a prohibition on exports of financial services and, thirty days from the date of the Order, a prohibition on imports of Burmese products.
