- ITC Institutes Investigation (337-TA-796) Regarding Certain Electronic Digital Media Devices

On August 2, 2011, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing that it voted to institute an investigation of Certain Electronic Digital Media Devices and Components Thereof (Inv. No. 337-TA-796).
The investigation is based on a July 5, 2011 complaint and July 22, 2011 letter supplementing the complaint filed by Apple Inc. of Cupertino, California alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain electronic digital media devices, including mobile phone handsets and tablet computers, and components thereof, including software, touch-pads, and hardware interfaces that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,479,949, RE 41,922, 7,863,533, 7,789,697, 7,912,501, D558,757, and D618,678.
According to the Notice of Investigation, the ITC has identified Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. of Korea, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, and Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC of Richardson, Texas as the respondents in this investigation.
