  • On January 1, 2004, the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act, also known as the "CAN-SPAM Act" (hereinafter the "Act") came into effect. The Act if the first attempt by the federal government to regulate unsolicited junk e-mail sent to large numbers of people to promote products or services; also known as "spam."
