  • Electronic records can be divided into two groups: (1) those generated electronically for which no paper original exists -- e.g., e-mail, electronic invoices, records of electronic data interchange, etc; and (2) those which were originally on paper but have been transferred to some form of electronic storage -- e.g., microfilm, magnetic tape, etc.
