Michael Paul Orta practices in the area of insurance defense, focused primarily on 1st party property claims.

Born in Jacksonville, Mr. Orta attended Bucknell University for his undergraduate studies, as well as the College of William & Mary, where he obtained an MBA before attaining his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he focused his studies on commercial litigation and international law.

Prior to working with Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., Mr. Orta practiced primarily in the fields of workers’ compensation law and general civil litigation, representing and defending national and state insurance carriers and employers. Mr. Orta also has prior experience in the fields of Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Act (LHWCA) and Jones Act cases.

Mr. Orta is a member of The Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
