  • In September 2002, the State of California enacted the nation's first Paid Family Leave program. As of July 1, 2004, nearly all non-governmental employees in California became eligible to receive up to six weeks of Family Temporary Disability Insurance (FTDI) benefits over a 12-month period. This Alert provides an overview of the new California employment law.
